Chisinau, Republic of Moldova – July 2025 – The INTERSMARTS project is proud to announce the upcoming launch of a comprehensive Online Database of Applied Research and Innovations in Smart and Sustainable Tourism across the Black Sea Basin (BSB) region.
This strategic initiative — developed through a cross-border partnership between Varna University of Management (Bulgaria), International Hellenic University (Greece), Moldova State University (Moldova), and the Istanbul Development Agency (Türkiye) — aims to promote sustainable development and digital transformation within the tourism and related service sectors.
The database will serve as an open-access platform showcasing:
- Case studies on sustainable practices,
- Innovative technologies for tourism operations,
- Business models based on green logistics, circular economy, digitalization, and inclusive services.
Built upon the findings of country- and region-specific Needs Assessment Reports, the platform is designed to inform and inspire policymakers, entrepreneurs, researchers, and tourism professionals alike. It will act as a vital knowledge hub, supporting evidence-based decision-making and fostering collaboration across the Black Sea region.
The Online Database is part of Activity 3 of the INTERSMARTS project, co-funded by the Black Sea Basin ENI CBC Programme, and contributes to the shared goal of boosting blue growth, sustainability, and innovation in regional tourism.
The INTERSMARTS project is co-funded by the INTERREG NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme 2021-2027
