“Moldova Eco-Tourism Blended Learning Training Program” project (the support provided by the USDA Forest Service, International Programs, under Grant Agreement No. 23-IC-11132762-107) (a. 2023-2024)
It is well known that some natural areas in the Republic of Moldova are subject to a permanent negative impact from visitors, causing major environmental problems and degradation of natural heritage. In addition, there are no entities that would exercise tourist management in natural areas, even in protected areas the given field is not provided with competent specialists, even if the Classification of Occupations of the Republic of Moldova includes the profession 213316 Specialist in protected areas. In none of the entities managing natural areas (including state protected areas) in the country is there such a position.
The main aim of the project
The aim of the Blended learning program is to create a sustainable training framework (financially, logistically and methodologically) for the qualification and requalification of tourism and environmental specialists on topics contributing to the natural sites valorization, protection and conservation. The final goal is to support local stakeholders to manage recreation while ensuring the integrity of natural resources, especially in the high trafficked sites, including sensitive ecosystems and culturally significant sites.
Objectives of the project:
O1 – Assessment of labor market demand for vocational training in recreation management in natural areas.
O2 – Strengthen the capacity of local trainers on the creation of blended learning programmes and best practices in the field of wilderness recreation management.
O3 – Develop the concept and content of a blended training programme on recreation management in highly visited sites.
O4 – Development of competences of a group of 10 specialists from the area of the Orhei National Park on recreation management in natural areas on the basis of the mixed training programme.
