Chisinau, Republic of Moldova – February 6, 2025 – As part of the INTERSMARTS project activities, representatives of the international consortium visited Cricova Winery, one of Moldova’s leading wine producers, for an on-site study visit exploring sustainable tourism practices.
Organized within the framework of the SEC (Smart, Eco, Circular) partner meeting hosted by Moldova State University, the visit offered participants valuable insights into the winery’s innovative approaches to environmental responsibility, cultural preservation, and experiential tourism.
Cricova Winery impressed guests with its:
- Eco-conscious production processes, including energy-efficient technologies and sustainable waste management,
- Commitment to local heritage, combining historical preservation with modern wine tourism,
- Diversified tourism offerings, such as underground wine galleries, guided tours, and cultural events that support the local economy.
The study visit forms part of Activity 2 of the INTERSMARTS project, which involves assessing regional models of sustainability and blue growth in tourism. The findings will contribute to the development of a regional online innovation platform and applied research database for smart and sustainable tourism across the Black Sea Basin.
The visit also encouraged dialogue between project partners and local tourism stakeholders, reinforcing the importance of integrating tradition, innovation, and sustainability in regional development strategies.
