
That the objectives and achievements of our project, “Interdisciplinary Solutions for Smart Sustainable Tourism and Services for Blue Growth in the Black Sea Basin (INTERSMARTS)”, were recently presented by Elena Stepanov, a dedicated team member from Moldova State University, at the Cluster Meet Regions Conference – Republic of Moldova 2024! 🇲🇩
The INTERSMARTS project focuses on fostering sustainability and innovation in tourism and services in the Black Sea Basin through interdisciplinary research, networking, co-creation, and holistic knowledge sharing. This forward-thinking initiative aims to address the unique challenges faced by the region while unlocking its immense potential for economic, social, and environmental development.
Key Objectives of the INTERSMARTS Project:
- Promoting Smart and Sustainable Tourism: Leveraging innovation to minimize environmental impact while enhancing the economic and cultural benefits of tourism.
- Encouraging Blue Growth: Supporting the sustainable use of marine and coastal resources to drive economic growth while preserving the ecosystem.
- Strengthening Regional Collaboration: Building networks between academia, businesses, policymakers, and communities to co-create solutions tailored to the region’s needs.
- Knowledge Sharing and Capacity Building: Empowering stakeholders through education, training, and the dissemination of best practices in sustainable tourism and services.
At the conference, Elena Stepanov highlighted the transformative potential of interdisciplinary collaboration for achieving a smarter, greener future in the Black Sea region. She emphasized the importance of combining innovation and sustainability to create a tourism industry that not only thrives economically but also preserves the rich natural and cultural heritage of the region for generations to come.
